SA Idols 2011 - season 7 bad talent?

It's not just me saying it, but the talent pool we have for idols this year is really low caliber.  Of all the guys that auditioned  these are not the best list of contestants the judges could have come up with and now the public is tasked with choosing a winner from a difficult list of singers...

Top 10 quality American style is the likes of

and SA Talent to the likes of

Like for like, the all of the guys in the top 10 would out-perform each and every one of the SA contestants.  It is embarrassing to listen to someone like Miss J singing Fireworks by Katy Perry and Dave having a 'fit' on stage (yes, he has passion but I won't buy his CD!).
I can't imagine these guys even making it in theater week if they should have been put up against the US contestants to audition! The SA guys can't even stay within key!
The worst singers were Nolly and Miss J and the best performers last week were Erin, Dene and Crushanda and they only marginally got close to the talent level the US guys are on.  I am interested to see what the SA public makes of this when voting!

Danny K buyers remorse?

DSTV launched their Jumbo remote last year and Danny recently admitted to purchasing one.  He does not sound to sure that it was a good purchase, but perhaps consumers should check it out.  You never know if maybe it was made 'just for you'!

The DStv Jumbo Universal Remote has been constructed by MultiChoice since the pay TV platform says certain subscribers asked for an easier-to-operate remote. The buttons on the DStv Jumbo Universal Remote can perform all the functions on a DStv PVR decoder, doesn't need to be pointed towards the DStv decoder to work, and is compatible with all DStv decoder models.

Graeme Watkins was one of our favorite Idols contestants and he has gone from strength to strength since the moment he was voted off the show.

Police #FAIL

Only in SA would this happen - the police vehicle illegally parked at a shopping complex were subsequently clamped.

Must follow tweet list

I know this is not South African, but can't help but share these laughs with my SA friends.  There are a few of these guys you simply HAVE to follow on twitter.

My favorite is 'Lord Voldemort' (@Lord_Voldemort7)

62 People in one Taxi!!

A taxi driver was caught with 62 passengers in his 21-seater taxi, near Buffelspoort, North West, on Thursday, the province's public safety department said on Thursday.

Spokesman Lesiba Moses Kgwele said he was taking three teachers and 59 school children to the Kloof Waters Intermediate School, outside Marikana.
"This means that the taxi [was] loaded almost three times over it's legal limit," Kgwele said.

Trevor Noah - Goodbye for now

Trevor is doing his show in March at the Mandela Joburg Theatre before he embarks on his American tour.

He is really funny!
Good news for him is that his show almost sold out already; not so good news for fans that still want to get tickets.  There are still a few available for the 25th.

Here are the dates of his shows:

Also catch his talk show on DSTV, "Tonight With Trevor Noah" airing every Wednesday at 19:30.  The season is ending, but he said he'll be back within a year or two at the most.

Valentines

The good, the bad and the ugly side of Valentines day.  They might not mean the same thing to everyone in the same context:

Paul Rotherham
Valentines Day. A day for getting romantic with the one we love or a crock of commercial bull which lines retailers' pockets quite nicely?!?

 Colin Moss
Roses make me sneeze. Violets give me blisters. You're my valentine, but I'd rather f*ck your sister

......and because he is just so funny, another one from Colin Moss

Just saw valentines balloons outside a whorehouse - now that's special. "no valentine? Come & pay for one

 Trevor Noah
Last valentinesday I went to dinner with my mom - people thought I was dating an older black woman

and last but not least, the hearty one (in fact the only good one that was said with sincerity)

Jacques Terre'blance
Good day in studio! Now for some Champers and a nice home cooked meal for my Valentine . ♡

Hope ya'll had an awesome Valentines day!!
